Versailles Academy
of Equestrian Arts

Founded in 2003 by Bartabas inside the Royal Stables of the Palace of Versailles, the Academy of Equestrian Arts is a very unique corps de ballet.

The originality of this equestrian choreographic school-company is, that it combines both transmission of equestrian knowledge and practice of other disciplines such as fencing, dance, singing and Kyudo (traditional Japanese archery). Equerries therefore gain a true artistic sensibility, enabling them to develop their own repertoire.

Through Les Matinales des Ecuyers, dressage lessons performed by the Academy’s riders with their mounts, demonstrating precision, rigor and gentleness of training, the public is invited to enter the intimacy of the Academy.
The performance La Voie de l'Ecuyer, choreographed by Bartabas reflects the daily work of this company-school. Besides, this repertoire performance, the equerries can also perform original creations within atypical and prestigious venues (Grand Palais of Paris, The Abbatiale of Saint-Ouen in Rouen, the antique theatre of Fourvière).
